Everything You Should Do Before Leaving a Foreign Airport

airport blog

Entering a new country can be scary. You don't speak the language, and you're so focused on finding the baggage claim, customs, and the exit that you don't really take advantage of anything the airport offers. Every time I enter a new country, I go through an "airport checklist," that way, when I leave the airport, the only thing I have to do is find my hotel. It makes life so easy that I'm not really sure how people do it any other way. So what's on my checklist you might ask?

How to Visit Europe without Leaving NYC: Exploring The Cloisters

If you've spent much time in New York City, you might think 190th Street sounds like a whole other world. And it kind of is, but not in the way you thought. Most people hear Washington Heights and say, "Where is that?" or "That's so far" or "I don't go up there." Truth be told, I had no real interest in the area until I found myself there for a work obligation. I showed up ridiculously early (which is kind of my thing), and decided to walk around. I stumbled upon Fort Tryon park and fell in...

11 Things to Do and See on Your First Trip to Barcelona

I'm going to be honest here and say that the main reason I loved Barcelona so much was the food and the people. I'm the most indecisive person in the world when it comes to ordering dinner because I always want to try everything on the menu. I also tend to ask everyone I'm with if I can try their food. In the land of tapas, what's not to like? I'm not sure why you can't try small plates of dishes everywhere else in the world but, writing an entire post about what I ate seems boring, so...

What to do when you find yourself in Essen, Germany

Whenever I meet someone from Germany, I always mention that I've visited there. Of course, they ask "What part?" and my answer is "Essen!" The next logical question is a confused, "Why?" How did I end up in Essen, a small city not found on many travel itineraries? I was there for a board game convention. Yup, you read that right.

Most of my travels thus far have actually revolved around book fairs due to my boyfriends profession, but this time we mixed it up and went to a board game...

9 Things I Absolutely Love About Venice

I could probably write a list called five million reasons I love Venice, but that would be a tad excessive. Plus, I doubt anyone would take the time to read the whole thing, so I’ve decided to sum it up into nine reasons. Venice has quickly become one of my favorite cities I’ve seen so far. Sadly, I only got to spend a week there, so there may be things I missed. Regardless, here's what I loved the most...

I’ve been to a few...

13 Things To Do In London That Aren’t Overrated

England was one of the first countries I visited outside of the United States. I think it's an obvious choice since there's no language barrier and the culture is similar in a lot of ways to the U.S. It's a great adventure for someone who wants to go abroad but isn't ready to get too out of their comfort zone. I've been to London twice, and these are some of the things I steer friends towards when they ask for advice. There are so many things to do in London, but I found these to be fun...

13 Things To Do And See On Your First Trip To Rome

This week I'm going to throw it back to trips taken in the past. I was supposed to go explore NYC last weekend, but we got hit pretty hard with a blizzard here. Two feet of snow later, I decided to postpone my adventure. In the meantime, I didn't want to keep everyone waiting (because I like to think that someone other than my mom reads these.)

Rome is my absolute favorite city in the whole world (so far). I don't know what it is that draws me in, but nowhere else seems to...

16 Things You Don’t Know About Europe Until You Get There

Although I love writing about New York, I thought it’d be fun to share some advice from my past travels. Let me start by saying that I’m definitely no expert when it comes to places outside of New York State. I have visited Europe several times over the last few years, and in honor of those visits I thought it’d be fun to share all of the things I learned upon my arrival in foreign countries. Or rather all of the ridiculous mistakes I made when I first arrived. Trust me there were a...

How to Get Completely Lost in Venice

My favorite part of traveling is the moments that I didn’t plan. The little misadventures that end up making the best stories later. The mishaps.

I live in New York City where you are constantly running to catch a train. Sometimes you are so determined to get on a train that you sprint on board just before the doors close only to realize you’re on the wrong train. Well it seems this is true for all public transport in all countries.

My boyfriend and I were in Venice a few...
